I have a boston terrier / pug mix (aka Bugg) and she has really bad skin allergies. The vet instructed us to give him Benedryl and recommended a specific type of omega-3/omega-6 shelves that we could get for it. We also spent her Hill's Science Diet for allergies with a greater amount of omega-3 and omega-6, but his allergies seem worse. Does anyone have suggestions for Canine Skin Allergies?

I highly recommend taking a look at the book Natural Health for Dogs and Cats by Dr. Cairns Pit. It provides some natural home remedies for things like allergies. One thing you may want to give a test which is recommended in this book feeds ascorbic acid (also known as vitamin C).If you get one for dogs with a natural health store for pets, there will be instructions on how to eat much right on the label.
Also give small bathroom, since water dries on their skin and can often cause more irritation.

I would ask your vet if they do allergy testing. You may have blood tests done, which are pretty reliable. This will tell you what external things she is allergic, like trees, inhale, mold, etc. Blood tests will not test for food allergies. You can also have a skin test is more reliable, but cooler and be done by a specialist in dermatology. Based on the results or they can make vaccines to help desynsitize it. It is a bit more of an expense, but it's worth and will save money in the long term oral medications that do not need as often. Good luck.
