People who are with the doctor are usually there for a reason. Sick people do not want all sorts of medical stuff on the walls - is disturbing. I do not think it has to look inviting, but the bright colors and light in the heart of prints and posters would be more soothing. The yellow color is very rewarding. Soft greens and blues are calming. Maybe you could find some fantastic, but cartoons of good taste, a physician have themed framed for the walls.
