Does doing regular exercise improve asthma?

I've got mild asthma and it's just a bit annoying that my peak flow isn't quite what it should be. I'm a singer and I know I'm breathing from the diaphragm. My peak flow should be 635 but it's usually about 580-600. I wondered if doing regular cardiovascular exercise would help me improve it.

Hey there,
Do not worry what they say about your peak flow should be concentrating on your own record - the highest reading PF you have already acquired.

Yes, regular exercise is essential for the management of asthma. Staying in shape can improve your overall asthma control (ask Steve to severe asthma www.breathinstephen.com--a life is beating the odds of survival for many times.) It may improve your peak flow, but it may not. Do not focus so much on the predicted, however, and go by what your body gives you.

I have mild persistent asthma, and my personal best peak flow is 380, and it * should * be about 450 - Not even close! It took me months to work up to 380 personal best I have now! (The day I received my meter, I could not get past 290!)

Best of luck!

I also have asthma and I am a singer. My yoga teacher recommended to improve the kernel / muscles of the diaphragm. It helps me in my singing and I can breathe more easily too.
