Police: SUV slams into church van, leaves scene of accident

Surfside Beach, SC (WMBF) - Investigators from the Police Department of Surfside Beach is on the hunt for an SUV allegedly left the scene of a head-morning car crash Saturday morning.

The officers of the Police Service of Surfside Beach were sent to a location at the intersection of 9th Avenue North and U.S. 17 in respect of an account or car accident before 1:30 a van occupied by members of the first apostolic church of Sanford, was traveling northbound on US-17 heads when they were almost struck head-on by a white or colored Suburban Tahoe SUV.The suspect vehicle, a survey has revealed, was traveling southbound in the northbound lane.

Because of poor direction of travel, two vehicles made contact, causes damage on the driver's side of the suspect vehicle. The SUV, witnesses said, continued driving and was able to leave the scene of the accident before police arrived.
