Dr. Denis-Richard Roy, who will take over from interim CEO Bertha Paulse in January, has been CEO of the Center Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) from 2002 to 2008. He is currently a consultant manager at CHUM.

Over the past 20 years, Roy has held numerous leadership positions at McGill University Health Center, Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal Chest Institute and the Center Hospitalier Regional de l'Outaouais.

News reports of the Montreal Gazette and La Presse report that Roy quit the post of chief executive at CHUM in June 2008 after being pressured to do so by the Health Minister Yves Bolduc of Quebec.

"In June 2008, Roy has lost his job amid concerns about mismanagement and failure to obtain 112 million dollars in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation research facilities," said a Montreal Gazette Article dated October 8, 2009.
