Has anyone used a UV light for killing dust mites, viruses, and bacteria to help alleviate allergies?
My 2 1 / 2 year old daughter has terrible allergies, she has suffered since she was 5 months. She had 12 sinus infections and 3 ear infections in his first 2 years alone. We have started him on Flonase 6 months ago, which really helped infections, but since September 1st has been a lot of congestion again and has been coughing for at least 2 hours each night due to drainage. We had a Sharper Image UV air purifier, but it broke 2 weeks ago and we get replaced, not having the unit in May will make his allergies worse, we're not sure.We have tried Claritin syrup for the last 2 weeks but he disagrees with his stomach. What would a portable UV lamp rod with some of its symptoms? Has anyone tried the sticks UV mites, bacteria and viruses? The one I see on line costs around $ 300, a small aquarium UV light work the same way for much less? ($ 50?) What is your opinion on the UV relieve allergies dust mites, do you think it worth it?
I thought the lights attracted insects insects, then the electric shock killed!! Anyway, thinking more about it, my daughter's allergies are seasonal, probably not related so much dust, since all summer it was 100% fine, he really began in place the first week of September as it was when she was 5 months (she was born April 3) and 18 months, she is now 30 months, my doctor (who I just called) agreed that for it was seasonal. I did not know that HEPA filters are better I'll look for those too, it's a better idea for her. She has asthma but no thank you God, and it is mostly ok during the day, the night is even worse for her.Our house is 15 years old and I know that the ducts are also very dusty. I just thought the idea of the magic wand of UV light has been very interesting.
Your daughter should have more of a HEPA air cleaner regularly. Most Sharper Image is better than nothing, but they do not work as normal air purifier does. There is no substitute for that which you discover. It does not dust, pollen, dander HEPA air as fact. If you're willing to spend $ 300. on his health, it would be a good idea if you buy a HEPA air purifier because they are the only ones who would be able to help him breathe.
You also have to change her bedroom and make it rare enough that dust does not cling, such as removing the curtains, blinds replacement, no carpet, get special dust proof sheets of mites, pillowcases and mattress / box spring covers. The walls should be wiped on a regular basis, stuffed animals should be washed regularly.
