Can x-ray technicians get cancer due to the radiation they are exposed to?

Hello everyone! Im interested in becoming a radiology technician. However, my colleague told me that x-ray techs live a shorter life because they are exposed to radiation on a daily basis. From my understanding, x-ray Techs wear a patch that detects the amount of radiation they are exposed in May to.Im very enthusiastic about becoming an X-ray tech, but I do not want to live a life. short LOL! Please give me prompt feedback.

Yes, we can get cancer like everyone else. However, recent studies indicate that radiographers live a little longer than the general population. x-ray techs are (should be) very careful to limit their exposure to harmful ionizing radiation. We do this by the principle of TDS (time, distance and shielding). we expose ourselves to as time liittle as possible. we are far from the radiation source as possible. and we protect ourselves as much as possible.
provide some perspective on the remote part of this principle, if the technology is 6 feet from the patient without armor protection
Technology would receive 1 / 1000, the radiation dose the patient received.

I'd be more concerned about being able to find employment in a market that is flooded with x-ray techs after spending 2 years in a training program rather difficult. In any case, good luck.
